| Reepham & District
Rotary Club was formed under the supervision and efforts of Bert
Alcock (see right),
then secretary of Aylsham Club with the help of fellow member Guz Jones
(picture left). So Aylsham is our Mother Club which at this time met every
Wednesday lunch time, Reepham on the other hand was to serve the same
catchment area but meet in the evening, thus creating a better
opportunity for potential new members.

Pat Pinnington, (picture left) chaired all the pre
club meetings at the Old Brewery House Hotel. He was one of the primary instigators with Burt Alcock & Guz Jones. Unfortunately he was unable to become a founder member due to work commitments elsewhere. |

Eventually the statutory number of 25 people were
gathered together and after a few meetings an inaugural dinner took
place at The Old Brewery House Hotel in Reepham market place on Monday
April 17th 1989. Led by 1080 District Governor Don Cooper with Extension
officer Maurice Hobbs the proposed club members were introduced by Rtn.
Bert Alcock and a resolution to form the interim Rotary Club of Reepham
and District was proposed by Barry Howes and seconded by Ray Osborne.
Monday evening was to be the meeting time. |
