The Tony Poole Award |

In
memory of Tony Poole who died
in
2002. Teacher, Head Master
(originally a Botanist), member of our Club, Club mentor, member of
Norwich 41 Club, and keen Birmingham City supporter. Tony
was always very keen on all matters involving young people and the
environment. The Club have therefore collaborated with the Reepham High
School to come up with a project which will in our view encompass
educational, environmental and conservation issues, and reward an
individual for effort in a long term project undertaken during the final 5
terms as part of the coursework. The judging of the project will be
undertaken by the School, with an emphasis on the child who has put a
particular effort into the project, rather than the one who is gifted and
would expect to do well. The
current project is a study of part of the City of Norwich, identifying
areas of need, and suggestions for development using environmentally and
conservation based principles. A Trophy see attached picture has been
purchased and engraved and an award will be made annually with the trophy
being represented annually to remember Tony. The Tony Poole award will, I
understand, be presented by the Bishop of Norwich at the High School
Awards evening this October 2003. |
